Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress from France. She studied at the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has appeared in films like Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She plays the character of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of two parents: a Korean mother, as well as an American-Russian father. Her father was consul in Quebec City, Canada. Her grandfather was a painter Eugene Klementieff. Because it is a resemblance to the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger" her parents gave their daughter the name Pom. Klementieff stayed in Canada for a year prior to her family was able to travel extensively due to her father's job. After moving to France and then to France, she resided in Japan. Klementieff lost her father to cancer around age five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, whom she described as "like [her] second father" died on her 18th birthday and her older brother committed suicide seven years after, this being on her birthday. Klementieff had the opportunity to study law following the passing of her uncle. However, she didn't find the career path appealing. She also worked as an waitress in France and a salesperson. Her first acting experience was at age 19 in the Cours Florent drama school in Paris. It was only a few months in her studies when she won an audition for a stage show that gave her two years of class with the top teachers in the school. Klementieff was the first actress to perform professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the role of the stepdaughter for the protagonist, Catherine Deneuve. Three days were spent on filming her scenes. One scene featured Klementieff pushing a person down a set of staircase, only to fall. Gael Morel saved that footage for the final film. Loup (2009) was an French film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer herders, was her first major part. The film was shot in an isolated camp, which was a few hours from the closest village. The camp was where temperatures dropped to zero.
