Amy Carlson
Born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy
Carlson spent most of her early life in the Chicago area. However, when Amy was
in high school, she and her family also lived in the Middle East where her
parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the younger sister
of Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe with her
family as well as independently. Since her parents worked as teachers and
teachers, they could enjoy every summer with each other, traveling and camping
all across the United States. They have camped in every state, except Alaska.
Amy went to Rwanda after the war in 1994 to assist in relief efforts. At a
young age, Amy showed artistic talent performing in school productions and
winning contests for writing. High school was where she was a star athlete
winning the first ever 3200 meter relay for girls in the Illinois track. After
college, she suffered an accident, she returned to the stage with a variety of
roles on stage beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and
also directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy has
graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) as a cum laude graduate
with an A.A. East Asian history, with an emphasis on Theater. After graduation,
she moved to Chicago and studied Improv at The Improv Olympic. Additionally,
she studied acting at The Actor's Center. Following her graduation she was
offered a contract on the now-defunct soap show Another World (1964). In the
category of "Outstanding support actress on a Daytime Drama Series",
she has been nominated to Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable of her roles
have been of strong women playing Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie
Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen with Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003)
and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson currently resides in New York City
together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), as well as being part-owner
of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue unique and diverse roles in the
world of film.
