Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and a presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid female actress on American television from 2013 to 2020. Vergara rose in prominence as host of two programs on Univision's Spanish-language TV network in the mid-90s. Her first major acting role in English was in the movie Chasing Papi (2003). Then, she was in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. She made her debut as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett on ABC's comedy show Modern Family in 2009. For her role, she was honored with four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Her voice-over roles included Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also part of The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in the year 2020 [citation required]. Since the year 2020, Vergara has been a judge on America's Got Talent. Vergara was the daughter of an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara was a homemaker and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. The nickname she received was "Toti" by her five siblings as well as many cousins. Vergara was a former student at National University of Colombia in dentistry. Then she quit after two years to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
